Perfume
What is in your perfumes?
My perfumes are comprised of both natural and synthetic materials. All perfumes contain Vitamin E and fractionated coconut oil, as well as Triethyl Citrate, which I use to dissolve resins, crystals, etc.
My perfumes do not contain any preblended or outsourced fragrance oils.
How long should I allow my perfumes to rest?
I am always eager to tear in to new perfumes and any perfume that I have ever purchased has been used almost immediately. That being said, I do believe that most perfumes, including my own, benefit from at least a 48 hour resting period. There is no hard and fast rule. All perfumes are different. In general, I would say that if after a week of resting if you still dislike all aspects of a scent you are testing then it is probably not the scent for you!
Why doesn't my perfume smell like the description?
There are a few possibilities here:
  1.  Have you tried wearing it on your skin? Most of my fragrances smell completely different when worn on the skin as opposed to straight from the bottle.
  2.  Skin chemistry! Your diet, age, and more can all impact the way a fragrance wears on you.
  3. We all experience scent differently. How would you describe the scent of a strawberry? Sweet, juicy, earthy, acidic, green, fresh, sharp, fruity, light? A strawberry candy smells different from a natural strawberry. A natural strawberry smells different when whole vs when smashed up or sliced. A strawberry can be experienced in some or all of these ways. I do my best to accurately describe the facets of each scent.
Is it safe to buy perfumes from a small business?
My perfumes follow IFRA guidelines, but as with many topical products it is always best to test in a small area first and wash off immediately if irritation occurs. I cannot speak for all small businesses or indie brands, but most brands that you hear about through word of mouth and positive reputation are probably handled safely. I would say to follow your gut and ask questions if you are feeling concerned!
If you are pregnant, nursing, or suffering from a serious illness, ask your doctor before using!
Why does my perfume look weird?
Some perfumes, based on their contents, will deepen in color over time. This is completely normal and your perfume is still safe to use. To slow down this process, store your perfume somewhere that is cool and dark.

Resinous perfumes are dark throughout their entire lifespan. Don't worry, they won't dye your skin!

Perfume oils vary in viscocity based on their contents and dilutions.

Always ask questions if you are concerned or need peace of mind!
